May 12, 2009: DJ for "The Show", a live art, spoken word and musical experience hosted by PUSH Ultra Lounge, 128 3rd Street S, St. Petersburg, FL.
June 7, 2009 - Current: DJ for "Got Jokes? - The Big Bang Show," a monthly talent show involving cash prizes, culminating in a final competition, $1000 cash prize and possible national television exposure; the show is currently filming for a television pilot. - Hello, and welcome!
I'm a local DJ based in St. Petersburg, my name is David Duff and I go by Vague when performing. I am part of the sound & production team for Got Jokes? Improv Comedy Troupe; I DJ for "The Big Bang Show," a Got Jokes? monthly talent show hosted at Nova535 in St. Petersburg, as well as other Got Jokes? events at The Lodge and The Improv Comedy Theater in Tampa.
I also DJ for "The After Dinner Diatribes," a weekly open mic for the food & beverage industry hosted by Savannah's Cafe in downtown St. Petersburg, and beginning August 26 I will be the DJ for "Speak Out!," a weekly open mic hosted by Gemini Lounge in St. Petersburg.
My DJ duties for all of these include playing my own sets before and after the performances, as well as playing performers on and off the stage. I have been the DJ for several other standalone events as well.
I've been mixing for about 10 years at home and at parties for myself and friends and I've decided to start making something of it. I love music and try not to limit myself too much to a style or two. I do prefer vinyl, but I've also learned that using both vinyl and CD together greatly increases my versatility.
I've also played the bass guitar for 13 years. From about 1997 to 2000 I was in a band called "Burial at Sea" that played the Brass Mug in Tampa and Dave's Aqua Lounge frequently. We even made a CD before our families and life in general made it impractical to keep playing.
So, now I play bass for fun and have turned my attention to the turntables and production/recording (both digital and analog). I also love to surf and I love computers (playing games and just computers in general... I have an A+ IT Technician certification).
