To mark its 20th Anniversary, the British International Theatre (BRIT) program will produce the classic Dion Boucicault comic melodrama, The Shaughraun.
The Shaughraun premiered in New York in 1874, where it enjoyed enormous popular success. It tells the story of a wealthy Irishman wrongfully convicted of being a Fenian (freedom fighter) rebel and his shaughraun (vagabond) friend’s efforts to help him. Treacherous villains, daring escapes, noble heroes, double crosses, clifftop chases, love at first sight, and damsels in distress!
The production will run in USF’s Theatre 1 February 18-20 and 24-27 at 8pm and February 21 and 28 at 3 pm. For tickets and information, go to www.arts.usf.edu or phone the College of The Arts box office at 813-974-2323.
